About St Austell

One of the largest towns in Cornwall, St Austell is ideally located just a few miles from the coastline, meaning beach visits are a must on lazy days.

A long running industry in the town is St Austell Brewery. Founded in 1851 by Walter Hicks it has grown to become easily the biggest brewery in Cornwall with a string of pubs. The brewery is open to the public for tours. St Austell is also extremely popular due to its close proximity to the Eden Project. Just two miles away from the town, the Eden Project has become the single most popular tourist attraction in Cornwall.

St Austell is the ideal centre for some of the loveliest beaches in Cornwall. In fact the coast here is sometimes referred to as the Cornish Riviera. For a busy, thriving beach resort, you’ll love nearby Carlyon Bay. Other popular beaches include Duporth and Porthpean but if you’re seeking somewhere a little more subdued then Polkerris is perfect.

St Austell’s port is the lovely harbour of Charlestown, where you will frequently see old sailing ships. The port has been used as a film location for numerous films and television series, such as Poldark

Within easy reach of St Austell are the old fishing ports of Fowey and Mevagissey. The town is on the main railway and bus routes from London.

Do I need a Home Survey for a new-build home in St Austell?

For any property move, an RICS Home Survey is of vital importance. It is particularly valuable to anyone looking to purchase a property with an unusual structure, an unusual frame or a property that is listed. Given the hundreds of thousands of pounds it costs to buy a property, a few hundred pounds on a survey to have the reassurance of an independent, expert surveyor looking over it is a good investment. For a new-build property, you maywish to consider our recommended Snagging Survey. To find out more about this service, visit our Snagging Survey page.
